Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 28, 2026

The short version

Heirloom has no accounts and no cloud library. Your collection — photos, identifications, and value estimates — is stored only on your device. Item photos are sent to an AI service solely to produce your analysis, and we do not keep them.

Item photos and AI analysis

When you scan an item (and only after you have given explicit consent in the app), the photos you choose are transmitted securely to our server, which forwards them to Google's Gemini API to identify the item and estimate a value range. Under the API terms we use, Google does not use these photos to train its AI models. Our server does not store your photos or analysis results; they are processed in memory and returned to your device.

What stays on your device

Deleting the app deletes this data. We cannot recover it because we never had it.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status; RevenueCat receives purchase receipts and an anonymous app user ID, never your name or payment details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Amplitude to understand how the app is used (screens viewed, features used, subscription events) so we can improve it. This data is tied to an anonymous device identifier, not your identity. Analytics never includes your item photos or the contents of your collection.

Advertising attribution

If you installed Heirloom after tapping an Apple Search Ads ad, we receive anonymous attribution data from Apple (campaign and keyword identifiers) to measure our advertising. This involves no tracking across other apps or websites.

What we never collect

Data retention

Photos sent for analysis are not retained by our server. Anonymous analytics are retained by Amplitude per their standard policy. Your collection lives on your device for as long as you keep it.

Your rights

Because your collection is on-device, you control it directly — delete any item or the whole app at any time. For questions about anonymous analytics data or anything else in this policy, contact us and we will help.

Children

Heirloom is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and the effective date above.
